LEIGH ANNE SHAW

A lifelong performance artist with a degree in drama, Leigh Anne began studying at the famous FatChanceBellyDance® studio in San Francisco in 2004, earning her General Skills and teaching certification and becoming an official FCBD Sister Studio®. In pursuit of the many dances that inspired FCBD® style, Leigh Anne performed for three years as a principal dancer of Qabila Folkdance Company. Additional dance inspiration and study includes: Middle Eastern dance by Nanna Candelaria, Malia deFelice, and Asia Arabesque; fusion by Kami Liddle, Ariellah, and Cera Byer; improvisational world fusion by Wendy Marlatt; Turkish Roman by Elizabeth Strong; Salimpour and Jamila format by Andrea Sendek; Egyptian and oriental stylings by Florence Leclerc.  In addition to dance, Leigh Anne plays frame drum and Persian daf. She is the director of her own troupe, Al-hambra Dance Company, and co-director of the Collective Elements Dance Guild.

Everyone can dance, and you need no experience to join Leigh Anne’s class!  Leigh Anne will present a few steps in each class for you to follow along, tailoring the experience to your personal level and need. You will receive a solid warm-up, some technique and drills, and the chance to dance with others.
